I’ve seen some Mercedes Station Wagons on the road. How Many Mercedes Wagons are there?

Thursday, August 7th, 2008

There are two Mercedes Wagon Models

  • E350 4Matic
  • E63 AMG

These both belong to the Mercedes E class of models.

We spoke about sedans earlier. The Wagons (no longer referred to as ’station wagons’) share the E class with the Sedan body styles.

  • E350
  • E320 BlueTech
  • E550
  • E63 AMG

So basically, the E350 and E63 have offerings in both the Sedan and Wagon body styles.

Since Mercedes offers 11 different Sedans, I’d like to know – What is a Sedan exactly?

Monday, July 21st, 2008

The word sedan is likely derived from the Italian sedia “chair” derived from the root “sed-” from the Latin “sella” – the traditional name for a carried chair. In America the term sedan equates with the British term saloon.

The sedan is one of the most common automobile body styles.
A Mercedes sedan would seat four or more people and has a fixed roof that is full-height up to the rear window with fixed “B” pillar side window frames (as opposed to the hardtop style without a “B” pillar and where the sash winds down with the glass)
It has two rows of seats with enough space in the back seats for adult passengers and a separate trunk.

Several versions of the body style include four-door, two-door, and fastback models.
A a “three-box” design is the most common – meaning an engine compartment, a passenger compartment and a trunk compartment.
The fatsback model is a two box design where the trunk is in the rear portion of the passenger compartment.

These are the current Mercedes Sedan Models and classes

  • C-Class C300
  • C-Class c300 Luxury Sedan
  • C-Class C350 Sport Sedan
  • E-Class E350
  • E-Class E320 BlueTech

  • E-Class E63 AMG
  • S-Class S550
  • S-Class S63 AMG

I’m interested in buying a new Mercedes. How many models does Mercedes actually offer?

Wednesday, June 18th, 2008

Mercedes-Benz currently has forty five different models to choose from. That’s right 45! That’s a lot and we’re not even taking into account, paint color, options and extras, etc.

These 45 models are separated into 14 different classes that cover the six different body styles that they offer. Each class typically has 2 to 4 models that cover a lower, medium, and upper price range for that class.
